Class Descriptions

Pre Ballett (Thomas) class explores basic dance technique as the children exercise their imaginations through working with ideas, images and stories. Self expression through music and movement form the basis for further dance study.

Modern Ballet (Thomas) Ballet and modern dance techniques are the basis for a style of teaching that strives to allow the body to develop naturally while offering increasing technical challenges. Through floor exercises, barre work, improvisation and learning choreography, we build strong technique while retaining the creative spirit. Isadora Duncan, the mother of modern dance, described the goal of this style of teaching as striving to achieve the "highest intelligence in the freest body".

Choreography Workshop (Thomas) students explore their own ideas using music, class problems and improvisation. The dances they create are presented in the performance in June.

return to schedule

Performance Workshop (Thomas) includes a modern ballet technique class plus learning dances to be performed for various festivals and showcases in which we are invited to participate. Students must have studied with us or at another studio for at least three years.
